IMO Exam Summary

Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) has announced the result of SOF Olympiads on results.sofworld.org. SOF 2020 result for IMO is released on January 15, 2021. The National Science Olympiad (NSO) Exams are held on 11th November 2020 & 21st November 2020.

Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF)

SOF IMO
SOF IMO is conducted every year to find and reward talented students of class 1 to class 12. Science Olympiad Foundation conducts the exam at 2 levels. Level 1 is organized in the respective schools of the applicants’. Level 1 of the exam is conducted on 2 dates. Separate question papers are designed for both dates. Indian as well as foreign students are eligible for the exam. Multiple-choice questions are asked in the level 1 exam from the following topics: Achiever’s Section, Mathematical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and Everyday Mathematics. Level 2 is conducted only for toppers of the level 1 exam.

2nd Level Qualification Criteria

Level 2 of IMO is conducted only for level 1 meritorious students of class 3 to class 12. The students who come under either of the following 3 categories are eligible for IMO Level 2 exam.

  1. Top 5% students of each class in level 1 exam
  2. Top 25 rank holders of all classes from each zone in level 1 exam
  3. Every participating school’s class topper with more than 50% qualifying marks, provided that atleast 10 students from a class appear for level 1 exam.

SOF Result 2020 Tie-breaking Criteria

If more than one student obtains the same marks in SOF result 2020, then to award a unique rank marks of different sections will be considered based on given priority.

2nd Level Qualification Criteria

Criteria to qualify for NSO level II examination
All the candidates have to fulfill the below-mentioned criteria to qualify for the NSO level II examination.

Criteria 1: All the students from each class who will secure the top 5% rank in the first level of NSO.

Criteria 2: The top 25 ranks from each class in each zone are considered.

Criteria 3: From all the participating schools, class topper from each class who achieved 50% marks in the level 1 exam. At least 10 students have to appear in the examination. If the registration is done section-wise, then irrespective of the section, students who will score the highest marks will be eligible for the NSO level II exam.

SOF Awards/ Scholarships

  • Class 1 and 2 SOF winners will be awarded after the Level 1 exam. There will not be any level 2 exam for these classes.
